What is a Clutch?
The clutch is a solid metal disc located between the engine and the transmission that allows the drive from the engine to be momentarily disconnected from the gear box and thereby allowing a gear change to be made.
When Should The Clutch Be Replaced?
Clutches deteriorate with use and overtime you may find it begins to slip whilst driving. You may also notice a strange noise when engaging/disengaging the clutch or be unable to change gear as usual. In a lot of instances, the clutch should last a fairly long time, but if used incorrectly over a period of time or for a lot of miles then problems may start to appear. Your car’s manufacturer should set out as and when you should service the components to enable longer usage.
